Questions
Do I have to report every load?+
Yes, if you run a permitted waste receiving site. In England and Wales, every load received since 1 October 2026 must be reported to DEFRA's Digital Waste Tracking service within 2 working days. Scotland and Northern Ireland follow from 1 January 2027.
What is the API Code and where do I find it?+
It's the code that links your DEFRA account to software like Recycler Daily. You'll find it in your DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking account. You paste it in once when you add your site.
What do I pay?+
£1 for each load DEFRA accepts. No subscription and no monthly fee. Buy credits when you need them. Drafts, rejected loads and corrections are free. Your first 5 loads are free.
Is DEFRA's £26 yearly charge included?+
No. Every organisation pays DEFRA's yearly waste tracking charge directly to DEFRA, whichever way it reports. Recycler Daily only charges for the loads you send through it.
What happens if DEFRA's service is down?+
Your load is saved straight away and Recycler Daily keeps trying to send it. The saved load is your written record, and the app tells you what DEFRA's rules say to do during an outage.
Is there customer support?+
Recycler Daily is self-service: everything is built to work without needing to contact anyone, and DEFRA's errors are shown in plain English with what to fix. We don't offer one-to-one support or customer service. If you find a bug or have a suggestion, report it from inside the app (More → Report a bug). We read every message.
Is it right for my site?+
Recycler Daily is for any permitted waste receiving site: scrap and metal yards, transfer stations, skip hire, WEEE, tyres, wood and plastics. It's at its best for sites reporting up to a few hundred loads a month, especially when volumes go up and down: a quiet month costs nothing.
Can I switch from another provider, or leave later?+
Yes, both ways, and you don't need to move anything to start: just send your next load. If you want your history in one place, import an Excel or CSV export from your old provider, or DEFRA's Receipt of Waste spreadsheet: loads already reported stay as records and are never sent twice, and your carriers and waste types are set up for you. Leaving is just as easy: download all your loads, carriers and waste types in DEFRA's own columns, free, any time.
Do you keep my records forever?+
No. Recycler Daily is a reporting tool, not a records archive, so download your records regularly (Excel or CSV). Keeping waste records for as long as the law requires is your responsibility.
